This week, Sheridan Smith returns to the small screen alongside David Walliams, This Is Us arrives in the UK and BBC One have a treat for Adele fans on Friday night.

1. This Is Us | Tuesday 6th December, 9pm on Channel 4
This week sees This Is Us land in the UK thanks to Channel 4.
This is Us is a smart, modern and refreshingly honest comedy drama that follows the lives of an ensemble of characters, played by Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls) and Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story).
As their paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways, we find that several of the characters share the same birthday and so much more than anyone would expect. This Is Us has promised to challenge our everyday presumptions about the people we think we know.
2. In Plain Sight | Wednesday 7th December, 9pm on ITV
In Plain Sight is a new three-part mini-series based on the true story of Lanarkshire detective William Muncie’s quest to bring to justice notorious Scottish killer Peter Manuel.
Douglas Henshall (Shetland) takes the role of William Muncie whilst Peter Manuel is played by Martin Compston (Line of Duty).
Muncie first arrested Manuel in 1946 for housebreaking, but also successfully convicted him for a string of sexual assaults. Manuel vowed revenge.
Released from prison in 1955, Manuel embarked on a two-year killing spree, claiming eight lives in the close-knit communities of South Lanarkshire.
Manuel evaded capture for so long because he was unlike anything the local police had ever encountered: A murderer without any discernible motive whose victims were chosen at random. Muncie was the one man who had Manuel’s measure and doggedly refused to give up until Manuel was brought to justice.
3. Tattoo Fixers | Wednesday 8th December, 9pm on E4
The tattoo fixers return for a third series in which they revamp more of the nation’s most embarrassing, offensive, and sometimes downright awful body art.
This week, the tattooing titans come to the rescue of Luke, whose drunken tatt got him into bother back home, and Mark, whose belly-based Buddha has left him a laughing stock.
Sketch has to mop up the sticky mess on Craig’s ankle, Alice gives Kayleigh a peacock to be proud of and helps rid Hannah of her horrendous hashtag tatt, and Jay gets all godlike lending Aaron a hand with his protruding privates problem.
4. Celebrity Juice | Thursday 8th December, 10pm on ITV2
The series might have ended back in November, but Keith Lemon, Fearne Cotton, Holly Willoughby and Gino D’Acampo are back for a special Christmas special of the show with guests Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.
5. Hairspray Live! | Friday 9th December, 8pm on ITV2
Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Hairspray Live! takes place in 1962 Baltimore.
Plump teenager Tracy Turnblad’s dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV program. When against all odds Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and meets a colorful array of characters, including the resident dreamboat, Link; the ambitious mean girl, Amber; an African American boy she meets in detention, Seaweed; and his mother, Motormouth Maybelle, the owner of a local record store.
Tracy’s mother is the indomitable Edna, and she eventually encourages Tracy on her campaign to integrate the all-white Corny Collins Show.
Hairspray Live! stars Arian Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Sean Hayes, Derek Hough, Rosie O’Donnell, Harvey Fierstein, Kristin Chenoweth, Garrett Clayton, Billy Eichner, Maddie Baillio, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Andrea Martin, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Ephraim Sykes.
6. Walliams & Friend | Friday 9th December, 9:30pm on BBC One
Joining David Walliams in this week’s sketch show spectacular is star of stage and screen Sheridan Smith.
The multi-talented Sheridan transforms into a real-life Barbie doll, faces an unlikely dilemma whilst filming a swords-and-sorcery epic, and hits all the wrong notes as a cruise ship singer with a chip on her shoulder.
David and Sheridan play bickering husband and wife contestants on an ill-fated game show, What’s She Cross About?, plus we get to travel back in time to the 1970s to watch the classic politically-correct film, Carry On Up The Sexual Harassment Tribunal.
Walliams & Friend features a different guest ‘Friend’ every episode, creating a one-off, brand new double act with David Walliams each week. The series also features a talented support cast including Morgana Robinson, Mike Wozniak and Jason Lewis.
7. Adele: Live In New York | Friday 9th December, 11:25pm on BBC One
Multiple Grammy Award-winning singer Adele performs in New York at Radio City Music Hall, showcasing songs from her album, 25.
The show, recorded last year for NBC, also features Adele interacting with her fans from the iconic Radio City stage, and performing landmark songs from throughout her career.
Cameras were rolling behind the scenes in the days leading up to the concert, offering exclusive access to the artist’s preparations for this extraordinary event.
