I TALK TELLY

WHAT TO WATCH: 13-19 March

What To Watch 11

There’s something for everyone this week on telly with great drama, great comedy and great entertainment.

Here are the 7 shows you have to watch this week…

1. Broadchurch | Monday 13th March at 9pm on ITV

Broadchurch - Series III

Last week’s episode of Broadchurch was the real test. And thankfully it passed. The test being that the series would be any good and follow the success of series one and not the disappointment of series two. The opening episode was watched by 7.5m and the second episode by 7.3m – incredible numbers for a drama in 2017.

As the number of suspects were nicely lined up, this week’s episode sees Hardy and Ellie appeal to Trish to be more open with them. As we began to learn last week, she may have information that, although not related to the attack, could help the investigation. But for her own reasons, Trish doesn’t wish to share that information with anyone

There are lots of men to eliminate from the enquiry, and Broadchurch CID are slowly making their way through the painstaking process of interviewing witnesses and collecting statements.

Trish receives an unnerving gift from an anonymous sender and Broadchurch CID start to uncover inconsistencies and lies and previously hidden connections between Trish and some of the suspects.

2The Replacement | Tuesday 14th March at 9pm on BBC One

Episode 3

Following last week’s stunning episode, The Replacement comes to a rather dramatic end this week featuring more superb performances from Vicky McClure and Morven Christie.

After Paula confesses her secret, Ellen thinks she has proof that Paula is disturbed – but no one else sees it her way. Ian thinks that Ellen is being insensitive and paranoid.

The office turns against her and she is forced to leave for good, and when she tries to put Paula behind her Paula isn’t willing to let go.

When Ellen encounters Paula’s mysterious ex-colleague Georgia at an interview, Paula retaliates by driving a wedge between Ellen and her husband, questioning the paternity of their baby daughter.

After a catastrophic celebration at the new building, Ellen faces a fight not only for her career, but for her family as well.

Keeley Hawes stars in the penultimate episode of what has been another outstanding series of Inside No 9.

In this week’s episode, a couple’s world is changed forever by a seemingly chance find in a local street. David (Reece Shearsmith) and Louise (Keeley Hawes) and their daughter all live in their lovely house.

But when David brings home a single black shoe, the new arrival becomes a life-changing obsession that threatens to come between all of them. This episode also guest stars Mathew Baynton.

4. This Country | Wednesday 15th March from 10am on BBC Three

This Country

If you haven’t been watching This Country on BBC Three over the past few weeks, then I urge you to head straight to BBC iPlayer now to catch up with what is one of my favourite new comedies of the year.

The ‘brain drain’ is a problem for rural communities. In the final episode Kerry and Kurtan explore the possibility of moving away from their village.

Kurtan receives the exciting news that he could go to college to study for a GNVQ and Kerry is devastated. But what will his final decision be?

5. Benidorm | Wednesday 15th March at 9pm on ITV

For me, this latest series of Benidorm just gets better and better and this week when The Solana meat supplier lets Joyce down she turns to Lesley, who enlists Mateo. But when Mr Wu can’t help, what should they do?

Elsewhere, all will be revealed as to how Troy is keeping tabs on Kenneth and Liam, Joey and Tiger get some part-time work, and Jodie auditions for an advert. But if she gets it, will it mean the Dawsons’ holiday will have to be cut short?

6. John Bishop: In Conversation With… | Thursday 16th March at 9pm on W

Following a successful first series that saw him interview James Corden, and Sir Lenny Henry, John Bishop is back with ten more episodes of his chat show with a twist, In Conversation With…

Instead of having a sofa, a desk and a revolving door of guests, John strips it right back with just two armchairs, one guest and one hour.

In the opening episode, he is joined by Lindsay Lohan who opens up about her life and career, from her childhood performances in The Parent Trap and Mean Girls to her troublesome adolescent years, and reveals her drive to take control and run her own life, career and ambitions.

In future weeks, John will be joined by Olly Murs, Davina McCall and Russell Brand.

7. The Voice UK Saturday 18th March at 8:30pm on ITV

©ITV Plc

Following four brilliant live knockouts, Teams JHUD, Tom, Will and Gavin are all complete and the quarter finals are here. The 12 remaining singers will each perform for a place in next week’s semi-final.

Members of Team Gavin, Team JHud, Team Will and Team Tom will sing to stay in the competition and be one step closer to winning a recording contract with Polydor Records.

Only 8 acts can go through to the semi-final and once again the power lies with the viewers at home as the public vote to save their favourite singers.
