A special episode to focus on Phil's mental health recovery in EastEnders

The episode will air on Thursday and feature a guest appearance from Keith Allen.

 15-21 MARCH

Nigel continues to struggle with his memory, and after a difficult day, he eventually breaks down to Linda.

As Honey implores Billy to tell Lexi about Phil’s whereabouts, he's adamant she doesn’t need to know. And on Bridge Street, Nigel nearly slips up in front of Lexi which angers Billy.

Later at No. 55, Nigel finds Lexi reading one of the letters Phil wrote on the night of his attempt at ending his own life, and confuses her for Clare.

Fleeing to Billy, convinced that Phil is dead, Lexi asks Honey and Billy if Phil is dead, before breaking down and Billy heads to No. 55 to confront Nigel.

At the Boxing Den, Honey and Sharon find Billy and tell him that Callum is going to tell Lexi the truth. Whilst back at No.55, Linda comforts Nigel following his visit from Billy.

Later, Billy apologises to Callum and Lexi in the café and the trio head to Phil’s mental health unit with Linda and Nigel.

In a special episode on Thursday, which takes place over four weeks starting from 20th February to present day, we see Phil struggle to settle into the mental health unit.

Initially reluctant to open up in his therapy sessions and group activities, as the days go by, Phil meets another patient called Gaz and the pair soon bond over their shared life experiences.

As Phil enjoys his rapport with Gaz, he's downtrodden to learn he will be leaving the unit and over the four weeks we see Phil continue to face his inner trauma. Until support worker Yasmin helps Phil see he is ready to leave the unit.

After listening to voicemails from Sharon and Nigel, Phil discharges himself. Will his loved ones get to him before he leaves?

EastEnders continues Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One with first look episodes available from 6am on BBC iPlayer
