Disney+ has released several first look images from the second series of hit comedy Extraordinary.
Written and created by Emma Moran and directed by Toby MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan Extraordinary is the hit Disney+ comedy about being young and finding your feet in a confusing world, when all you’ll ever be is ‘ordinary’.
The story centres around Jen, a young, painfully self-aware woman, who lives in a world where everyone has a superpower... except her.
10 years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. But Jen at 25 is still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower. But in doing so, she might discover the joy of being just kind of OK.
Series two picks up where the first series spectacularly left off as we follow Jen, played by Máiréad Tyers, on her powers journey as she enrols as a client at the power clinic. Soon, Jen discovers that the process of finding her power isn’t as easy as she hoped, and things in the rest of her life aren’t smooth sailing either.
Ex-cat, now-boyfriend Jizzlord, played by Luke Rollason, has had an unexpected revelation about his past, and Kash, played by Bilal Hasna. and Carrie, played by Sofia Oxenham, are attempting to be totally mature and dignified about their break-up, which is not easy when they’re still living under the same roof.
It seems that Jen and the gang are dealing with new levels of adulting and chaos that none of them are prepared for.
Also returning as Jen’s mum and stepdad, Mary and Ian, will be Siobhán McSweeney and Robbie Gee.
This series they'll be joined by a host of new cast members, including Julian Barrett as George, Jen’s power coach at the Discovery Clinic, Rosa Robson as Nora, an unexpected person from Jizzlord’s past, Kwaku Mills as Clark, Carrie’s new work colleague and Derek Jacobi, who will voice a special cameo role.
The new series is series produced by Charlie Palmer, produced by Abíólá Rufai-Awójídé and executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris for Sid Gentle Films as well as Charles Dawson, Johanna Devereaux and Emma Moran
