FIRST LOOK Little Disasters

Adapted from Sarah Vaughn's bestselling novel, Little Disasters, which explores female friendship and motherhood.

Paramount+ has today revealed a number of first look images from their upcoming UK original drama Little Disasters, starring Diane Kruger, Jo Joyner, Shelley Conn and Emily Taaffe.

The six-part drama series is an adaptation of the hit novel of the same name from bestselling author Sarah Vaughan, author of the acclaimed novel and series Anatomy of a Scandal.

Little Disasters centres on a decade-long friendship between Jess, Liz, Mel and Charlotte, four expectant mothers thrown together in an antenatal class with little in common apart from their due dates but have been there for one another throughout motherhood.

Described as a complex psychological thriller with a mystery at its heart, Little Disasters explores female friendship and motherhood. At the heart of the mystery, Jess, played by Diane Kruge, the seemingly perfect stay-at-home mother whose world begins to fracture when she brings her baby daughter to the hospital with a head injury she can’t explain.

Her close friend and on-duty A&E doctor Liz, played by Jo Joyner, must make the excruciating decision of whether to call social services. With one phone call, Liz sets in motion a chain of events that ripples, fractures and nearly destroys not only their families but their entire friendship group.

These first-look images unveil the emotional fault lines beneath a decade of friendship, offering a powerful glimpse into the deep bonds and simmering tensions between the four women. We see Jess at breaking point as she battles personal turmoil as she tries to take care of her children while being kept at a distance by the authorities.

They show Liz dealing with the emotional impact of her decision, consoled by her husband Nick, played by Ben Bailey-Smith. As the threat of police and social services hangs over Jess, we see her husband and family man Ed, played by JJ Feild, on the brink as their perfect life unravels around them.

The consequences of that night have a ripple effect on the wider group as Mel, played by Emily Taaffe and Charlotte, played by Shelley Conn, are drawn into the investigation as the mystery behind what really happened to Betsy threatens to break the group apart.

Each of the women harbour judgments about each other, but these ultimately become judgments about themselves, all secretly whispering the same insidious question: am I a bad mother?

Made by Roughcut Television in association with Fremantle, Little Disasters has been adapted for television by Ruth Fowler and Amanda Duke, produced by Myf Hopkins, directed by Eva Sigurdardottir and is executive produced by Ash Atalla, Alex Smith, Marianna Abbotts, Sarah Vaughan and Simon Judd.

Little Disasters will air this spring on Paramount+
