To assuage her guilt over Yaz, Nicolette brings Holly cupcakes, but when Holly says she would like some company, Nicolette is wary of getting into a discussion with her about Yaz and abruptly leaves with an excuse.
Weighed down by her loneliness and her dissatisfaction at not gegng her old job back at Lassiters, Holly needs a distraction from thinking about Yaz.
Overnight, Holly crashes at the share house, where, the next morning, she wakes to see a towel-clad Max hurrying past to get his jeans off the line. In a fun moment, Max fumbles his towel, exposing himself.
Later, Holly offers to help Max do up his belt which leads to an unexpectedly charged moment between them. Realising Max’s injuries will impede his work, Holly goes to the garage, steamrolling her way into being his spare pair of hands as a way to help Max and to also keep her mind off Yaz.
As Holly continues to help Max at the garage, much to her surprise she discovers she’s quite enjoying it. Seeing her tenacious work effort, allows Max to view her in a new light. But when a couple of tough looking guys pull up in a car with Queensland number plates, Max freaks out and immediately shuts up shop for the day.
When Holly pushes Max to explain his actions, he finally reveals he’s laying low from a dangerous situation back in Brisbane. Horrified, Holly agrees to keep Max’s secret, further strengthening their bond.
