I TALK TELLY AWARDS 2020 Nominees

After last year’s hugely successful awards which saw 220,000 votes registered, the I Talk Telly Awards are back for its sixth consecutive year and fans can now cast their vote across 26 different categories.

Leading this year’s nominations with four each are BBC Three’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel Normal People and Michaela Coel’s BBC One series I May Destroy You.

Close behind with three nominations each are ITV drama Des, the 2019 Christmas special of Gavin & Stacey, the last two series of Top Gear and This Morning which will be hoping to make it six years in a row as winner of Best Daytime Show.

When it comes to the soaps, EastEnders lead with 13 nominations, followed by Hollyoaks with eight, Coronation Street with five and Emmerdale with three.

And it’s BBC One who lead this year’s nominations with 55, ahead of ITV’s 33, Channel 4’s 27 and Netflix’s 22.

This year’s awards introduce two new categories; Best International Comedy and Best US Factual which recognise the very best scripted comedy and factual programming from America. These categories replace Best Stand-Up Special. And the Best Newcomer category has been renamed Best Breakthrough, recognising the achievements of people who may have been seen on our screens before.

TV Moment of the Year returns for another year and is the only category whose nominations have been decided by a public vote. The rest have been decided by I Talk Telly’s founder Elliot Gonzalez.

Speaking about this year’s awards, Elliot said “It’s been a tough year for everyone and when we all needed it the most, television was there to entertain. Despite production grinding to a halt in March, 2020 has produced some incredible programming which hasn’t made my job of deciding this year’s nominees any easier. But now I hand it over to the public to have their say. I can’t wait to see who they choose!”

You can vote here and voting closes at 11.59pm on Saturday 21st November with the winners announced on Sunday 6th December.
