Jane and Amanda struggle to see eye-to-eye in Neighbours

Will they be able to smooth things over?

Hoping they can look past his recent behaviour, Darcy meets with Susan, Karl and Terese at Eirini Rising to discuss his future. With Karl and Susan’s support, Terese agrees to keep him on, but while Darcy’s relieved, his break-up still weighs on him, something an arriving Amanda privately notes.

As Susan makes another attempt to get Amanda to tell Jane she’s at Eirini, she’s unsuccessful and when Susan, Karl and Terese discuss the situation, Karl is adamant they shouldn’t interfere. But Susan remains torn.

They’re all rattled when Jane almost overhears them, and Susan goes to see Amanda to try to change her mind. But Amanda stays firm. She needs to know who loves her and who she can trust.

When Susan and Karl see Jane and Nicolette at Harold’s, Susan unsubtly drops hints for Jane to call her mother. But Jane decides not to, saying she’s always the one to reach out so now it's Amanda’s turn.

Meanwhile, Amanda checks in with Darcy, flirting with him and giving him a book, The Graduate, to cheer him up. As their friendship grows, they head off to an Eirini mixer together where Jane unexpectedly shows up, shocked to see her mother making herself at home at Eirini Rising.

Baffled by her mother’s return, Jane tries to understand why Amanda didn’t inform her of such a big life decision. When Amanda plays the not-so-subtle martyr card, Jane realises this was a test.

Seething, Jane struggles to remain positive, but when old wounds are re-opened, mother and daughter once again struggle to see eye-to-eye.

In the aftermath of Jane’s outburst at Amanda, she attempts to backtrack. But it’s too late. Hurt, Amanda storms off, leaving a guilty Jane to confide in her children.

When Nicolette suggests the idea of having Amanda over for dinner, Jane agrees, and Byron offers to organise. However, it’s clear this is going to be a struggle. Will Jane be able to smooth things over?
