12-18 APRIL
With the atmosphere in the Penthouse still tense, Nell continues to stay withdrawn, seeking solace in her digital art and rejecting JJ’s attempts to reconnect.
With JJ frustrated, Nell's upset and breaks down in front of Terese, begging to go to the States, so she can be with Toadie and Hugo.
Concerned, Terese tells Paul, lamenting the fact that Leo’s upcoming murder trial and Paul’s baby drama has meant Nell’s wellbeing has fallen through the cracks. But when Nell shuns JJ again, he snatches her iPad from her and her panicked reaction makes him look at the screen to see what’s so much more important to her. And he's stunned to see a sketch of Nell pushing Sebastian near the lake.

Rattled, JJ doesn’t know what to make of Nell’s drawing, or the status of their relationship and his questioning eventually wears her down and, needing to speak to someone, Nell opens up about what really happened on the night Seb died.
She tells JJ that Sebastian grabbed her, thinking she was Fallon, and terrified, she pushed him away. After running off, Nell tried to put the incident out of her mind, but when she got home
from visiting family in Colac, she found out Seb had died in their altercation.
With Leo being tried for murder, Nell can’t tell anyone what really happened and is desperate to leave the country. However with Terese and Toadie deciding to keep her in school in Erinsborough, she feels stuck.
When JJ learns that Leo’s legal team hope to prove that Seb’s death might have been an accident, he convinces Nell that Leo will probably go free and she doesn’t ever have to tell the truth. Can their plan really work?
After his defense team find a forensic specialist who might be able to introduce enough doubt in the prosecution’s case to save him from going to jail, Leo can finally relax a little and see his life as a free man.

With Krista and Byron’s support, Leo might beat the murder charge, however, he faces a new threat when Sebastian’s father, Stan, comes to town and threatens to make Leo’s life hell for killing his son.
Still reeling from Stan's verbal attack, Leo is crushed when Byron tells him that they've lost the witness who they thought would be testifying in Leo’s defence. Even worse, the expert has now decided to side with the prosecution.
Feeling as though the walls are closing in, and jail is inevitable, Leo insists it’s time for Byron to take over all his duties at Yorokobi.
Worried about Leo’s diminishing hopes, Krista tries to boost his spirits, however, Leo insists that he needs to be realistic about his chances. Little does Krista know, that Leo’s making a desperate plan to escape.
