But can the Sonya Rebecchi Foundation be saved from closure?
30 NOVEMBER - 6 DECEMBER
When Toadie tells Nell about Big Kev’s cancer and offers her the option of staying in Erinsborough, he rules out her staying with Terese because of her struggle with sobriety.
Shocked to learn Terese has had more than one slip-up, Nell reveals the deal she made with Terese to hold onto her secret with Toadie, who is furious.
Having been encouraged by Paul to fight for what she wants, Terese tackles Toadie again, who’s adamant that she needs to prioritise herself.
When Terese apologises to her, Nell admits she'd prefer to stay with jer if she had the choice, but Terese is certain Toadie is immovable on the subject. Nonetheless, Nell tackles her father, pointing out that she moved to Colac for him and is now asking him to repay the favour by letting her do something she wants to do.
Remorseful, Toadie goes back to Terese with an apology and a rethink on his decision and both Nell and JJ are delighted to learn she will be moving back in with Terese, and plans are made to celebrate her 16th next week.
In the wake of the good news, Terese thanks Paul for being on her side, and in a moment of URST he assures her he always will be.
As Gino and Moira consider ideas for Eirini Rising to participate in Yaz’s light festival, they hold a residents’ meeting at The Waterhole, where Gino checks in with Terese about her feelings towards Toadie. And Terese admits she finds being around her ex very triggering.
When the residents’ meeting doesn’t go smoothly, Terese gets up and leaves, upset she’s not part of Eirini Rising anymore.
Realising she’s upset, Toadie checks in with Terese and their discussion surrounding Big Kev leads to Terese coming up with the perfect theme for the light show, ‘Lost Loves’. However, it’s left to Toadie to pitch the idea on behalf of Terese, because the residents would never use it if they knew it came from her.
When the idea gets over the line, Terese is thrilled and this helps her to begin the process of healing when it comes to Toadie.
As Nell celebrates her sweet sixteenth birthday, for once, everything seems to be perfect as she’s back in Ramsay Street living with Terese and right across the road from her boyfriend.
Also, her Dad and Terese seem to finally be getting along and everyone’s coming together to celebrate her birthday with a big impromptu party.
Having spent the day reflecting on her mother, Sonya, and her altruistic nature, in a spirit of gratitude and a desire to follow in her mother’s footsteps, Nell publicly announces she’d like to become more actively involved in the Sonya Rebecchi Foundation.
Toadie couldn’t be prouder of his daughter, but when he goes to call the Foundation manager to put Nell’s request in motion, he learns that the local Council won’t be renewing the Foundation’s lease for their office at the Community Centre, and if they don’t find somewhere new to go as soon as possible, the Foundation will have to close its doors.
