But can he stop her from confessing everything?
2-8 NOVEMBER
True to his word, Paul has taken Terese’s car for repair while also checking the crash site for any part of her taillight left behind.
When he returns to Terese, Paul finds her stressed as she reveals Vera is on to whoever has been putting their empty wine bottlles in her bin. Not to mention that Vic saw her drinking at
Boylesque so it’s only a mattter of time before everyone realises she’s off the wagon and will therefore connect her to the accident.
Buoying her, Paul urges her to focus on the fact that the police are at a dead end and gently wonders how long she’s been drinking. When she tells him a couple of weeks, he realises the timeline fits with when he stopped taking her calls.
Guilt ridden, Paul urges her to stop drinking, now. Terese promises she will, but when alone she has flashbacks to Harold in hospital and it becomes too much to bear.
Having stayed the night with Terese, Paul who slept on the couch, urges her to get help and she assures him she can handle it.
When Susan sees Paul leaving the house, she assumes he and Terese have been hooking up and Terese lets her believe this, instead of confessing the truth.
But when she discovers the driver of the linen delivery truck has confessed, thinking he’s responsible for the accident, Terese's guild ratches up as the drive is fired from his job and may face police charges.
With Terese wanting to confess, Paul suggests an alternative. He’ll take the blame and that way there will be no scandal to wreck Eirini Rising. Reluctantly, she agrees, but when the time comes to tell the residents, she can’t help herself and confesses that she was responsible for the accident!
Confessing to causing the gas leak while drunk, Terese apologises for her acIons, stressing it was a one-time incident.
Hoping they can put it behind them, once the unimpressed residents leave the meeIng, Susan turns on Terese. Betrayed by Terese’s deceit and her culpability in Gino’s brush with death, Susan criIcizes Terese for keeping her relapse to herself.
Overwhelmed, Terese flees the meeting and is met with the anger of Moira, who has put two and two together and declares Terese to be the thief of her missing wine.
Meanwhile, Paul confronts Susan and Karl, upset at the way they’ve reacted to a friend in need. Sinking deep into self-hatred, Paul confesses that he did see the signs and just ignored them out of an attempt to respect Terese’s boundaries.
Seeking Terese out, Paul finds her at Harold’s, where Krista has lent Terese her full support and gently convinces her to let her book her into the rehab centre David once connected her to.
With Paul overwhelmed with relief at Terese’s agreement, the two share a moment of connection.
The next day, ready to make amends, Terese asks Susan to manage Eirini Rising in her absence, but Karl and Susan stun her with a request that she step down from her role permanently.
They’ve had enough complaints from the staff and residents in the wake of Terese’s confession that, if she doesn’t remove herself from Eirini Rising, she’ll likely lose it anyway. Reeling, Terese complies and carries her belongings from the office in a walk of shame past her residents.
With Paul by her side, Terese confesses everything to the police and prepares to leave for rehab. Before climbing in the taxi, Terese tries to address his confession from the other night, but Paul promises her that they can speak about it when she returns.
