Having given up her secret search for Chelsea, Cara tries to make up for her lies to Remi by lavishing her with gifts and quality time. None the wiser, Remi is touched.
Meanwhile, Nicolette checks that Cara’s still determined to call off the search and Cara assures she’s going to put it to bed without Remi ever finding out. But as Nicolette goes home, it's clear that despite her assurances to Cara that she wouldn’t see Maddy again, she is in fact still hooking up with Cara’s cousin.
Later, Cara and Remi unexpectedly stop by, forcing Nicolette to hide Maddy and even though Nicolette claims to be home alone resting, Cara spots two used wine glasses and later barges into her home, catching her and Maddy red-handed.
With Cara disappointed that she broke her promise not to see Maddy after asking her not to complicate the situation any further, Nicolette apologises to her, but it’s clear she’s broken her trust.
Doubling down on her apology, Nicolette confesses how much Cara’s friendship means to her and that she ‘really likes her’. The perfect time for Remi to arrive home and catch the tail end of the conversation! Misinterpreting Nicolette’s confession, it's fair to say that Remi is not happy!
Caught out, Cara decides she’s unable to lie any longer and fills Remi in on the recent Chelsea search and how she kept it secret as initially, Chelsea’s pregnancy was just too painful to talk about, coming so soon after her own hysterectomy. Explaining how when Nicolette found out, the lies just got away from her.
As this isn't the first time Cara has kept something huge from her, Remi is incredibly hurt by the secrecy, but the next day, as Nicolette goes to bat for Cara, it reminds Remi that Nicolette is the one with a track record of turning situations toxic, not Cara.
When Remi suggests they should tell Paul about Chelsea’s baby, Cara thinks they’re better off staying out of it, and concentrating on themselves. Relieved to see Cara and Remi are patching things up, Nicolette soon realises how much Remi took her words to heart and that she now wants both her and Cara to keep a distance from Nicolette, the scapegoat in their marital crisis.
