'The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2' coming to ITV1 this autumn

With the extended show available to stream exclusively on ITVX.

22 years since Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine, Nicola and Sarah were voted the winners of Popstars: The Rivals and formed Girls Aloud, the band are returning to ITV1 with The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2.

To celebrate this milestone and honour their bandmate Sarah Harding who sadly passed away in September 2021, Girls Aloud embarked on a huge sell-out arena tour of the UK and Ireland in May and June of 2024, playing to over 300,000 people.

Recorded in London, during one of their legendary run of 5 nights at London’s The O2, the hour-long highlights, along with sone sneak peek behind-the-scenes, will offer fans another chance to enjoy the show if they missed it first time round as well as letting audiences relive their favourite moments when the full extended arena show lands on ITVX.

Speaking ahead of the show airing on ITV1, Nicola said "This show is a massive celebration of our journey over the last 22 years. It was a great chance for us to showcase our catalogue of music that we’re so proud of, and to celebrate and remind people of our incredible Sarah."

To which Cheryl added "It was pure joy and nostalgia at every show. It was amazing to look out at the crowd every night, especially in the moments when we all remembered Sarah together."

Speaking about the upcoming special, Nadine said "The Girls Aloud Show is a unique experience because there's so much excitement and camaraderie in the room – we're all in it together. Our fans got so creative with their costumes – they came as different eras of Girls Aloud."

To which Kimberley added "It's exciting to think that anyone who didn't manage to see The Girls Aloud Show when we toured the UK is going to have this chance to share it with us now."

The tour was a celebration of Girls Aloud’s rich back catalogue and the ground-breaking success they have achieved as a band. One of the most successful girl group of the noughties, Girls Aloud have sold in excess of 5 million albums in the UK and hold the Guinness World Record for their 20 consecutive UK Top 10 singles.

Their debut single, Sound of the Underground was the 2002 Christmas Number One, spending four weeks at the top of the charts and selling over half a million copies in the process.

Girls Aloud were nominated for five Brit awards and won Best Single for The Promise and were invited to record the official single for Children in Need twice. The band toured extensively, with their Out of Control tour playing to over 30 arena dates.

The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2 wil air later this autumn on ITV1
