 BRAND NEW DRAMA

THE LISTENERS

Tuesday 19th November at 9pm on BBC One

BBC One's new drama The Listeners, is based on the novel by Jordan Tannahill, who has also written the adaptation and stars Rebecca Hall as Claire, a popular English teacher, who begins to hear a low humming sound that no one else around her can hear.

This seemingly innocuous noise gradually upsets the balance of her life, increasing tension between herself and her husband, Paul, and daughter, Ashley. But despite multiple doctors, no obvious source or medical cause can be found. But when she discovers that a student of hers, Kyle, played by Ollie West, can also hear the sound, the two strike up an unlikely and intimate friendship.

Finding themselves increasingly isolated from their families, friends and colleagues, they fall in with a disparate group of neighbours, led by a charismatic couple, Jo and Omar, who also claim they can hear The Hum – and who believe it could be a gift, heard only by a “chosen few.”

Described as enigmatic, provocative, and haunting, The Listeners explores the seduction of the wild and unknowable, the human search for the transcendent, the rise of conspiracy culture in the West, and the desire for community and connection in our increasingly polarised times.

 RETURNING COMEDY

CHEATERS

Tuesday 19th November at 9.45pm on BBC One

BBC One's hit 2022 drama Cheaters is back for a second series and after the adrenaline of their affair, Josh and Fola’s relationship has blossomed, and now they’re closer than ever.

But with her divorce from Zack not even finalised, Fola is keen to take things slowly – not exactly Josh’s speed. Josh is a ball of anxiety, and he finds himself going to ridiculous lengths to ‘give her some space’.

Meanwhile, with Zack quietly determined to win Fola back, and Josh’s ex-girlfriend Esther returning from her travels with a new beau in tow, the stage is set for some big decisions…

Can a relationship that started as an affair ever transcend its messy beginnings? Cheaters takes a long hard look at love, sex, monogamy and how the heart, brain and loins are rarely on the same page.

 BRAND NEW COMEDY

ONLY CHILD

Friday 22 November at 9.30pm on BBC One

Gregor Fisher and Greg McHugh star as father and son, Ken and Richard Pritchard, in BBC One's brand new comedy Only Child which features domestic and inter-generational differences and neighbourly squabbles,

Only Child is told through the lens of Richard and Ken’s comedic relationship and in this first episode, bit-part actor Richard returns from London to his home to Forres in the Scottish Highlands for a long overdue visit to the recently-widowed Ken. However, he soon realises his dad might be in need of a bit more full-time help. Not that Ken would agree, of course, but that statement is pretty much true about anything.

An eccentric, strong-willed technophobe, Ken is set in his ways, leaving Richard worrying about his dad growing old.
