It's a music special this week!


With five of the biggest artists in the world turning their attention to the small screen this week, it's only right that I dedicate this week's best telly entirely to them as music fans are in for a real treat!


Here are 5 TV shows, all featuring your favourite music stars, that you can't miss this week...

Saturday 7th December on Netflix


Sabrina Carpenter has had an incredible 2024 so it's only right that she's rounding of the year with a Netflix Christmas in which she'l perform songs from her holiday EP Fruitcake as well as other iconic chart-topping holiday covers.


A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter will also feature show-stopping music performances, comedic guests, unexpected duets, plus many more surprises and fun cameos


There'll be duets with Chappell Roan, Tyla, Shania Twain, and Kali Uchis and appearances from Nico Hiraga, Quinta Brunson, Cara Delevingne, Kyle Mooney, Megan Stalter, Sean Astin, Owen Thiele and Jillian Bell.

 BRAND NEW SPECIAL

MARIAH MEETS RYLAN
 

Saturday 7th December at 8.15pm on BBC Two


Last Christmas, Cher met him, but this year it's the turn of Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey to meet Rylan as her festive hit All I Want for Christmas Is You celebrates its 30th anniversary, for a 55-minute special, filmed on location in Los Angeles.


Mariah Carey will meet Rylan for the first time as he quizzes her about life, music, and of course, the festive season. During her extensive interview she'll discuss how she came up with the melody for her smash hit Hero, the jobs she had before she was famous, her multiple appearances on Top of the Pops and her love for the show.


She'll also talk about her inspirations, including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and George Michael, working with Jackie Chan and Westlife and her reflections on this year being the 30th anniversary of her single, All I Want For Christmas Is You and album, Merry Christmas. Plus, Rylan puts Mariah’s English accent to the test and pretends to audition her to be in EastEnders!

STRICTLY COME DANCING:
THE RESULTS
 

Sunday 8th December at 7.20pm on BBC One


As the five remaining couples prepare to find out whether or not they've made it to next week's Grand Final, tensions are high in the Strictly ballroom and with the glitterball now in touching distance, we'll be treated to two HUGE musical performances for the semi-final results show.


On Sunday, prepare for an unforgettable performance as Raye takes to the ballroom floor with her stunning track Genesis, Pt. III and Becky Hill will also be treating us to a performance of her powerful single Indestructible.

 GENRE

AN EVENING WITH DUA LIPA
 

Sunday 8th December at 8pm on ITV1


On Sunday night, ITV1 are heading to London's iconic Royal Albert Hall for An Evening with Dua Lipa, which will feature live performances of the global superstar’s greatest hits accompanied by The Heritage Orchestra for the first time ever.


The concert special will see Dua Lipa perform her hit pop songs, reimagined especially for the occasion, accompanied by the 53-piece Heritage Orchestra conducted by Ben Foster, a 14-strong choir and her 7-piece band. It'll be interspersed with personal reflections on her career as well as a special appearance from Elton John.


The dazzling London show, recorded on the 17th October, was critically acclaimed and guests were treated to a surprise duet of Cold Heart with musical icon Elton John, the debut live performance of Dance The Night taken from the Barbie soundtrack, as well as Maria, Anything For Love and End Of An Era from Dua’s latest album Radical Optimism and more.

 BRAND NEW DOCUMENTARY

ELTON JOHN: NEVER TOO LATE
 

Friday 13th December on Disney+


Rounding off a week of great telly for music fans, is brand new documentary Elton John: Never Too Late on Disney+ which has been directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish.


The feature-length documentary follows Elton John as he looks back on his life and the astonishing early days of his 50-year career in this emotionally charged, intimate and uplifting full-circle journey.


As he prepares for his final concert in North America at Dodger Stadium, Elton takes us back in time and recounts the extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows of his early years and how he overcame adversity, abuse and addiction to become the icon he is today.
